If you have a chronic headache, migraine or partial paralysis, it is always good to go for Ayurvedic treatment. The allopathic treatment for the above mentioned diseases may seem effective, but the allopathic medicines are not devoid of side effects. If you approach an Ayurvedic resort/hospital/practitioner searching for a remedy for your headache or migraine, they may advise you to go for a sirovasthi. Sirovasthi is a method of treatment in which medicated oil is kept on the head of the patient for a fixed time. A cap will be placed on the patient’s head and it carries the lukewarm herbal oil and this therapy continues for a few minutes as prescribed by the doctor. Some patients undergo the therapy daily for one or two weeks and it will bring out conspicuous improvements in their health condition. This treatment seems to be effective for headache, sleeplessness, hair loss, facial paralysis, dryness of nostrils and throat etc. This is a method used in parkinson's ayurvedic treatment too. ``I was suffering from a chronic headache for years and I used to take painkiller tablets every day, till I met a good Ayurveda practitioner. He said that my disease is something called `vatha based disease’ and sirovasthi will be good for me,’’ says Sasidharan a retired government employee. The treatment was over within a week and since then I have not expereinced even a mild headache,’’ says a beaming Sasidharan.
